For me, the biggest surprise as I get older...is how many surprises there still are left! I see now...how much I really DON'T know, I still have so much to discover, understand, see. In pushing myself to explore, be curious, give back, and open myself to others...I am realizing my journey is only truly beginning.
Kindness. I always tell my sons..."Love" is an 'Action word'. Showing up for others, leading with compassion...is what makes me feel fabulous! Kindness has been my guiding light, and when I feel I'm connected, giving back, and showing up for those I love, I feel my most fabulous.
This would change my life! Last year, a medical misdiagnosis caused me to go legally blind. As a professional photographer, this meant I lost my ability to support my two sons and self! ...For a year, I had to close my business and seek treatment. After two surgeries (and over $12,000 out of pocket for the non-insurance-covered surgeries), I am struggling. This money would help us start over, and allow me to resurrect my business, while also supporting an initiative I deeply care about.
