What’s the best part of life after 40?

Aging is both a difficult and beautiful honor. As someone who has navigated complex health needs since childhood, my relationship with aging is multi-layered. Life after forty allows me to become more, unapologetically, myself. I am willing to take up space. I am less likely to tolerate cruelty. I have grown in both my personal boundaries and beliefs.

What makes you feel fabulous?

Being with family, friends, and my animal companions enriches my life. Those who truly love me know that I don't have to be fancy to be fabulous. Connecting with others in a meaningful way helps to replenish my heart. I feel my most fabulous when dancing around and singing with family and friends. That may happen at home, in a grocery store aisle, or at a concert. Music, art, and animals are integral parts of my life.

What would you do with $40,000?

Winning $40,000 would make a profound difference in my life. As a disabled woman, the bulk of any money I have goes to my medical expenses. These funds would, directly, benefit my physical and emotional health. I also donate, regularly, to non-profit organizations and would earmark some funds for this purpose. I would get my hair professionally cut and colored for the first time in six years. If funds permitted, I would love to visit England to see my favorite independent musicians.
