The best part of life after 40 is taking the lessons learned in my youth to have healthy relationships, boundaries, and body image. It’s the knowing that I don’t have to do anything or be anything to be loved as I am; and my life and world doesn’t fall apart if I am not liked. It’s looking at myself in the mirror and loving who I see through body changes that come with breast cancer and aging. And it’s the peace and freedom that comes from all of this as a life practice.
What makes me feel fabulous is that I have the deep knowing that I am strong. I am still in active breast cancer treatment and some days are challenging. I have mentally strengthened myself through prayer and positivity. I choose to live in a more present way, and ‘stopped sweating the small stuff.’ My son and husband have been my biggest supporters and time with them is everything. Fabulous is a mindset, and Honey, I have it!
I would take my family on vacation and make some core memories for my son. He is my favorite person to watch play soccer, but would love to take him to see his favorite players in the World Cup. I would also like to give a donation to Hair Peace Charities to help women losing their hair in cancer treatment get wigs.
